When people hear “wine country”, everyone’s brain just goes to “Napa”, but there’s so much more to Wine Country than just Napa. It spans from Calistoga, St Helena, Yountville, and finally Napa at its most southern point. I most recently visited Napa in August on a girls’ trip with my mom, sister, and two aunts. We had originally planned to go in June of 2020, but well, you know…Covid.
We stayed at Embassy Suites which was ah-mazing; the amenities were incredible. They had complimentary breakfast and (my favorite part) a happy hour, which truly was the happiest of happy hours because the drinks were free for two hours every evening. They also had the cutest pond where you could find the friendly hotel swan and turtle swimming about.
The first day there, we went to Clif Family Winery in St Helena where we did a wine and food tasting. Our guide’s name was Tyler and he was great! We had some additional goodies from their Bruschetteria which was super yummy and consisted of fresh, farm grown ingredients.
That evening, we went to a Portuguese restaurant called La Salette. The caldo verde soup was tasty as was the heirloom tomato salad. The ambiance was even better!
The next morning, we went to Sunday Mass at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church. This was such a gorgeous church, and I’m so glad we made it a priority to fit it into our busy weekend.
The next day was my favorite day of the trip because we took a wine trolley to 3 different wineries! Drinking in the daytime, with the sun on my face and exploring new places and eating good food is what I do best! What’s not to love?! I repeat, definitely the highlight of my trip.
That night for dinner, we went to a beautiful restaurant called Brix. The inside was wonderful, but the outside stole the show. We walked throughout their farm as the sun was setting, and it was the perfect way to close out the weekend.
